First mobile LNG refuelling station in South America introduced in Peru.

The first mobile station that will supply Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to heavy duty vehicles and passenger transport in Peru arrives in Trujillo. Quavii (gas distribution company in Northern Peru) makes this possible as part of its new commitment to consolidate the change of the energy matrix in the transport sector in the Peruvian north. This mobile station is not only the first in the country, but also in South America. Promoting sustainable transport the mobile unit, also known as MicroFueler, is a tanker tractor that has a 25m3 LNG loading capacity and can directly supply this fuel to up to 30 transport units, through a modern integrated system with dispenser. The Quavii MicroFuel can be located along the north coast of Peru, complying with the safety distances, and will be maintained in Quavii storage and gasification stations located in Trujillo and Chimbote. “This proposal has two very important aspects to highlight. On the one hand, it seeks to promote the change of the energy matrix of heavy goods vehicles and passenger transport; and on the other hand, it uses LNG, a fuel that does not depend on the variation of international prices such as diesel, does not harm the environment, is safe against any leak and is not subject to theft “; noted Eng. Luis Tello, in charge of the Mobility area of Quavii. The representative of Quavii indicated that, in November, operation tests will begin with the arrival of the tractors of the FAW, CAMC, Scania and Shacman brands, which will bring to Peru their first trucks to LNG that will have different characteristics, in accordance with the autonomy that the client needs, being able to travel 1,300 km with a single tanker -which represents the distance from Trujillo to Lima, round trip-. The MicroFuel is the first step for the implementation of the Green Corridor project, which – in its initial stage – will put into operation two service stations that will ship LNG along the north coast of Peru with the aim of boosting demand for this gas. Currently, the company is already in the stage of development of engineering and permits of the first of them that will be located in the Alto Moche sector of Trujillo. With this initiative, Quavii remains the pioneer in the distribution of natural gas and reinforces its commitment to the promotion of sustainable transport in the country.
