Pasta al LNG: Barrilla products from Parma to Sicily using SCANIA LNG

The Barilla Group consolidates its commitment to sustainability and presents the new Scania LNG vehicle fleet of Nicolosi Trasporti, a leading company in national transport for Sicily with room temperature and temperature controlled vehicles.

19 SCANIA units, powered with liquid methane, will be used for the transport of finished products, from the warehouses of the Barilla plants present in Italy to its customers and to its distribution hub in Sicily. Naturally in the name of the "Good for You, Good for the Planet" philosophy.

The Catania-based Nicolosi Trasporti group has in fact invested in the 'green' renewal of the fleet by acquiring 50 tractors powered by LNG from Scania.

“We have been active since 1962 and have always been attentive to the issue of pollution; in June of this year we have decided to take another important step towards a lower environmental impact, starting the conversion of our fleet with the purchase of vehicles powered by liquefied natural gas in collaboration with Scania "explains the Etna company. "By introducing this innovative technology it will be possible to reduce pollution by up to 95% less CO2 emissions, and when it comes to noise pollution, there will be an impact reduction of 75%. The first LNG fueled vehicle of the Nicolosi Trasporti fleet is already on the road at the service of our customers for an increasingly eco-sustainable future and an ever cleaner world ”.

Nicolosi also announced  that he will build the first LNG station in South Italy, under the geographical line of Salerno, which will however remain a private structure.
